New management positions at Etex - 27/08/2014

Press releaseTwo management changes will take place at Etex, effective from 1 September. Bernard Lekien, currently Head of Division Siniat, will become Advisor to the CEO, focussing on strategic gypsum sourcing. Jean-Pierre Hanin, now CFO, will take over the role of Head of Division Siniat.

The management shifts at Siniat are a response to various building trends and challenges. ”Following Etex’s acquisition of Siniat from the French Lafarge group at the end of 2011, the gypsum division has been expanding its business in the dry construction market. At the same time, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality gypsum, the main ingredient in plasterboards, is crucial to meet the growing global demand for plasterboard solutions," explains Fons Peeters, CEO of Etex.

Bernard Lekien: Advisor to the CEO

When Etex acquired Siniat, Bernard Lekien came on board as Head of Division and ensured Siniat’s successful integration into Etex. Relinquishing the operational field, he will now focus on strategic projects for Etex, as Advisor to the CEO. In this role, he will be in particular responsible for defining Etex’s global gypsum sourcing strategy. Ensuring a permanent supply of gypsum is a crucial long-term objective for Etex, as it is the main ingredient of many of its products, such as plasterboards and compounds.

Jean-Pierre Hanin: Head of Division Siniat

In 2013, Jean-Pierre Hanin became Etex’s Chief Financial Officer. In this position, he managed several change projects, including the start-up of the sales and digital strategy. This enabled him to acquire a profound knowledge of Etex quickly. As Head of Division, he will have to take Siniat’s business to the next level. The goal is to position Siniat as a leader in dry construction and a market shaper. The foundations are already in place: Siniat has a special unit to market the innovative combination of plasterboards and high-performance fibre cement boards.
Etex is in the process of hiring a new CFO to replace Jean-Pierre. Until then Jean-Pierre will combine both roles.
