New autoclave for our company Eternit Argentina - 06/02/2014

A new autoclave arrived at the Eternit Argentina plant, located in Buenos Aires, during the first week of December.

The autoclave, valued at 500,000 euro including civil works and buildings, will increase installed capacity and our market share in the region.

The building blocks for success

Purchased to increase the production of flat sheets, the new autoclave will allow Eternit Argentina to meet the local demand, which has grown substantially in recent years. ‘’The autoclave confirms Eternit’s status as the leader and unique producer in the Argentinean fibre cement flat sheets market’’ explains Agustin Cozzi, General Director of Eternit Argentina.
Indeed, the autoclaved flat-sheets are regarded as quality products: autoclave drying creates a tougher board with a dense surface and consistent composition, resulting in a higher quality, more stable board.
Etex has been very active in Latin America and is steadily expanding its presence in the region. Thanks to the increased capacity provided by the new autoclave, Etex plans to boost exports to such markets as Uruguay, Bolivia, Paraguay and southern Brazil.

A solid presence

In addition to fibre cement products, in Argentina Etex supplies local manufactured plasterboards and ceramic tiles. And aside from this, there are also representations of Promat and Equitone that benefit from Etex’s knowledge and expertise of the Argentinean market.

Maximise energy efficiency while achieving production objectives

The autoclave was transported as one piece, a very complex operation that took a full week to complete. Eventually, the new equipment was installed during the last days of December and strategically placed next to the existing one. The two autoclaves will be interconnected in order to minimise heat losses, and therefore maximise energy efficiency.
The autoclave will increase the current production capacity by 15%. It measures 2.2 metres in diameter, and is 40 metres long.
