The Group's historical development

While Etex Group today has branches worldwide, the Group's origins lie in Belgium.

1905 - 1990: the growth of Belgian Eternit

After a period of strong growth based on fibre cement activities, leading to the creation of manufacturing sites on different continents, Eternit also invested heavily in modern, newly developed building materials.

As a result, the company positioned itself as a leading market player for building materials for a wide range of applications, based on strong brand names.

1990 - today: the creation of an international Group

The nineties was the era in which the Group started to consolidate its activities, whereby Eternit switched completely to "New Technology" for its fibre cement products while at the same time the company reorganised its portfolio of activities and companies.

This led to the creation in 1995 of an international, industrial holding: Etex Group.
