In 2019, Etex South Africa joined forces with Ikhayalami. Together with this non-profit organisation, which offers technical construction expertise, Etex South Africa built seven primary schools in the Western Cape.
How did Etex design the schools?
Etex developed a modular structure with excellent technical performance and a high fire protection rating to fulfil the standards required by local legislation.
All seven schools are of different sizes and have a surface area of up to 70 m2, benefitting over 150 children in four locations:
- Kosovo: one school for 30 children.
- Philipi: one school for 16 orphans.
- Nyanga: one school for 15 disabled and mentally ill children.
- Delft: four schools for 110 children.
