Our Road to Sustainability 2030

At Etex, we believe significant progress means taking big steps. We combat global challenges, like climate change, by focusing on the core strengths of our products. With our effective lightweight construction solutions and innovative building materials, we embrace the demand for high-quality, energy-efficient and sustainable living and working spaces. Urgent challenges need both short term and long term solutions. That is why we signed the United Nations Global Compact, prioritising sustainable development goals (SDG) with which we can make the biggest impact.

CircularityDivider_orange.png

We are developing ways to reintroduce materials into continuous circles of material flows. For us, waste is not waste, but a potentially valuable resource which can be regenerated or repurposed and turned into something new. We have already made significant progress, eg. by developing a take-back service.

Our goals for 2030

  • Use more than 20% of circular input as raw materials
  • Reduce plastic packaging by 20% and use recyclable plastic only
  • Offer a take-back service of our product portfolio in 80% of our European countries
  • Zero waste sent to landfill
  • Invest 50% of our innovation resources to sustainability

Water and BiodiversityDivider_orange.png

At Etex, water is used as input material in our fibre cement, gypsum, calcium silicate and insulation products manufacturing processes. In 2023, we added Water and Biodiversity as a sixth priority area in our Road to Sustainability 2030 and have set clear targets to reduce our water withdrawal intensity. Water usage and requirements differ according to the specific product being manufactured.

Our goals for 2030

  • Cover 100% of our sites with water management plans by 2027.
  • Reduce our water withdrawal intensity by 20% by 2030.
