Our company in Romania pitched in to assist NGO Habitat for Humanity with the Big Build project: the biggest volunteer initiative for accelerated construction in Europe in 2017. Over half the Romanian population is living in overcrowded homes and one fifth of all Romanian houses are in very poor condition and require urgent renovation. To lend a helping hand, in October 2017, over 820 volunteers sprung to action and in just five days, constructed 36 houses for low-income families. Their efforts provided homes for a total of 118 parents and children. Our company in Romania donated 6,000 square metres of Nida plasterboards to the cause. In addition, 20 of our Romanian employees joined 100 other construction specialists to help guide and supervise the build.
