Etex, the global building material manufacturer and pioneer in lightweight construction, has taken a significant step to further enhance architectural design with the acquisition of SCALAMID, a manufacturer of fibre cement panels featuring cutting-edge digital printing and coating technology. This strategic move offers new possibilities for customers’ design and reinforces Etex's commitment to advancing innovation in the lightweight construction industry.
SCALAMID, with its dedicated team based in Sobota, near Poznan in Poland, operates a state-of-the-art fibre cement boards production and finishing line, with potential for expansion. The ground-breaking technology acquired through this deal allows for the printing of designs, images and colours directly onto fibre cement boards, providing new options for architects, designers, and ultimately Etex customers. SCALAMID's fibre cement panels are known for their quality and are widely used for both interior and exterior applications such as façades.
Etex acquired SCALAMID from Pozbruk, a Polish manufacturer of concrete elements such as prefabricated systems, paving stones, fences and garden architecture products with over 35 years of experience.
Bernard Delvaux, CEO of Etex: “This acquisition is a significant step in Etex's journey to continuously evolve and innovate in the building materials sector. We are excited about the potential it brings for us to grow by reaching new markets through new applications and to better serve our clients with cutting-edge solutions.”
Michael Fenlon, head of the Exteriors division at Etex: “Joining forces with SCALAMID will further support our capacities for fibre cement boards and that of our EQUITONE product brand with new coated and printed fibre cement boards. Our vision is to offer customers more choices, providing them with the flexibility to meet their specific requirements and customisation needs. The potential for creating truly unique fibre cement designs is now limitless.”
SCALAMID will be led by Robert Sykula, under the leadership of Guido Van Den Berghe, Head of manufacturing for EQUITONE and Cedral at Etex.
Robert Sykula, plant manager at Etex: “In SCALAMID, Etex has found the perfect partner to further develop our growth. We are looking forward to teaming up with new colleagues and participate to Etex’s growth by leveraging the EQUITONE brand and securing a market leader position in a consolidated competitive environment.”
As part of the Etex family, SCALAMID will continue to operate under its established brand, serving its current customers and will be integrated into Etex’s strong organisation and European network of fibre cement factories.
Etex already has a significant presence in Poland, where it now operates a total of six sites with close to 500 teammates manufacturing other renowned brands such as EQUITONE, Cedral, Euronit, Promat, Siniat and URSA.
