Etex announces the launch of its first 100% recycled plasterboard

A true pioneer in the development of lightweight, sustainable products, Etex, through its flagship brand Siniat, has designed a standard plasterboard made from 100% recycled gypsum recovered after use, using almost exclusively circular materials for its other constituents, with the same performance as a conventional plasterboard.

Called RECYPLAC™, this innovation is a true technological feat and is patent-pending. Tested and validated on the Etex pilot line in Carpentras (Vaucluse), it will be manufactured at the Ottmarsheim plant (Haut-Rhin). It is scheduled to be launched on the French market in July 2025.

RECYPLAC™ represents an unprecedented technological advance, proof of the technical excellence of Etex and Siniat in the service of more sustainable construction.

Leading the way for gypsum recycling

Etex, of which Siniat is a part, is the European leader in the use of recycled gypsum, with some plants achieving recycled gypsum ratios above 35%, applied for all plasterboard products —both standard and technical—representing several millions square meters per year. Between 2018 and 2024, Etex increased its use of recycled gypsum by 34%.

As a responsible industrial player, Etex and Siniat have been committed for many years to a global and proactive approach to sustainable construction that significantly reduces the carbon footprint.

This approach is reflected in the implementation of concrete actions such as maximising the use of post-consumer (recycled gypsum from local construction sites) in its production.

Etex is a global manufacturer of building materials and pioneer in lightweight construction, operating more than 160 sites in 45 countries, with nearly 13,500 teammates. France is Etex's largest market, accounting for 19% of its total revenue. Etex employs nearly 1,800 people in the country, spread across 18 sites. In addition to Siniat, Etex's other brands present in France are Cedral, EQUITONE, Eternit, Promat, Remagin and URSA.
